So I headed over to Kick Maternity today since they're going out of business. Today everything was 50% off. I still have a hard time paying $90 for dresses and $40 for shirts, even knowing they're supposed to be double. It's still more than I want. I will, however, buy the weird stuff. I came THIS close to buying one of those velcro-on fake bellies that they have in maternity stores so you can try on before you're showing. I thought it might be fun for parties and stuff. You know, when I don't already have my own belly.
I did buy two products that I will gladly try out for you, my readers, to see how they work. The first is Chickies Cleavage Coverage, which I actually posted about some time ago. It's a fabric cover that hooks onto your bra and keeps you from showing more than you might want in the upper chestal area. I did not see a price and would NOT have bought them if I knew that the original price was $33, not somewhere around $15, which is what I ended up paying. Really? For a piece of fabric to hide my boobs? I think I got taken on this one. We'll try it out and let you know if I feel it was worth it.
The second one you'll have to wait to hear about, but I already think it was a waste of money. I bought a Belly Bandit Bamboo wrap, which you are supposed to wear postpartum and which "helps tighten and shrink your tummy post pregnancy!" I read about these while pregnant with Sawyer and decided not to shell out the $50+, since I didn't believe the celebrities who endorsed them. I mean, they looked hot to begin with--of course they'll shrink back down after. They're magical people. But hey--it was 50% off, and when can I ever find them that cheap? So we bought the belly wrap. A lot of promises are made on the back of the box: "look slimmer instantly; helps lose inches faster; reduces discomfort; reduces discomfort; helps minimize stretch markes; adds support while breastfeeding..." And so on. Give me a few more months and I'll let you know if this thing works or not. I'm thinking not. But I'm a sucker for sales--what can I say??
my hairdresser told me to wrap my tummy up after pregnancy so it would "shrink". well, i never got around to getting one and now i will always have this nagging feeling when i look into the mirror. so sad! i wonder if it is too late now that i am almost 3 months postpartum.
ReplyDeleteOh no. The first thing I saw when I followed the link was a Kardashian.
