Oh, My Silly Son

So this morning I give Sawyer the hose on the back porch at Peter's. Then I gave him a big bowl, thinking--oh, I don't know, that maybe he'd fill it with water and dump it out. I ducked inside for two seconds, come back out and find him IN the bowl. Then, while in the bowl, he tried to also EAT the bowl. Sawyer, you are a piece of work. A WONDERFUL and weird piece of work. :)

Thought Processes

More beach pictures to come, but we are back now and I am fascinated watching Saw play. A year ago, he was just a tiny thing, barely able to do anything other than wiggle a bit, cry, and look around. Mostly, he slept. But now, I am watching as he is fully concentrated on taking a toy basket in and out of his playhouse. Why? I don't know. It's very important, though, and it must be done over and over again, apparently. In. Out. In. Out. Each time is a struggle, as the basket has to be turned just the right way to get through the door. He has figured this way out now, after like the tenth time. Now the basket is on his head and he's walking around the room with it like that. And now the basket is in the playhouse with Sawyer on the outside, door shut.

I am so amazed by the actions driven by some kind of thought process in my little guy's head. He is totally consumed by what he is doing now and has forgotten me completely. All that matters is this basket, and what he wants to do with it. Development is such a wild thing, and watching it moment by moment truly is amazing.

Beachtastic!

We are right now at Peter's house in Corpus Christi, loving the beach. I caught seven fish today (and threw them back) and somehow got burned in spots wearing 30 spf. It must be that stupd spray stuff--I have stripes. Sawyer is not burned, which is the important thing, and he LOVES the beach. Loves the sand (eating it), loves the water, and has no fear. He chased birds and girls and swam into the waves and got buried in the sand and just generally had a fantastic day. More tomorrow before we head home! I've said it before and only need to convince Robbie--I want to LIVE at the beach. Like, forever.

Ah...Beach

We are officially at the beach. Doors open, breeze in, palm trees waving, water rippling, fish waiting to be caught... I think I could stay forever. I hope Peter wants permanent house guests.

Slacker Blogger

Sorry I've been absent the blogosphere lately. I don't know what we've been up to besides daily life. Still getting back into routine after our trip to Louisiana, and today we're going to Corpus, just to mess us up even more. But I can't wait to go to the beach! Sawyer's first walking beach trip--this should be great. I'll have beautiful pictures of sand soon, and hopefully some interesting things to write about. :)

Extreme Bush Makeover

I was going to call this post "home" makeover, but really, a lot of the work we did was in transplanting the massive bush-fest that was our front yard. Here you can see our house as it looked when we bought it, and our house as of two days ago. We still have a lot of landscaping to do--we moved some of the bushes, but they didn't all make it, so there is work to be done. But overall, I think it's looks great, and am happy that when you look at our house, you see the house. And now we have an actual yard! All the better to put a whale pool in...

Little Swimmer

Last year, when he was just a wee one, Sawyer seemed to really do well in the water. I'm especially thinking of my time with Mom in our hotel for Ginny's wedding. While in Louisiana, we took Sawyer to the indoor pool, and he LOVED it. He even put his mouth in the water, imitating me blowing bubbles. I think we'll have a little fish on our hands soon!
I love how gross and yellow my black eye is here, and how Sawyer has a look that seems to say, "Mom's crazy."

This is Sawyer's best smile ever. Rob's is not too bad either...

Golfing with Sawyer

Here are some photos from our golf outing the other day. I was really freaked out that Sawyer would get sunburned and that the other golfers in their plaid pants would scowl at us for having a baby on the golf course, or that the golf police would take me away for playing in flip flops. But we actually had a really fun time on all 8 and a half holes. I would do it again and I think Sawyer would to...if only to ride in the cart again.
